Design with Type, second edition
The second, and best-known, edition of Design with Type remains an essential resource for students of typography. Dair guides the reader through a structured study of typography, beginning with the individual letter and progressing through the word, the line, and the overall mass of text. He also explores the various schools of typography, offering insight into different approaches to the craft, illustrated with over 150 examples of some of the most imaginative typography of its time. In 1967 Design with Type was selected as one of the AIGA Fifty Books of the Year.
